Delhi horror: Man kills live-in partner, chops body into 35 pieces, disposes across city
In what was a horrifying incident reported from the national capital, The Delhi Police on Saturday took a man into their custody for allegedly killing his live-in partner, chopping her dead body into 35 pieces and disposing them away.
As maintained by the police, the accused, identified as Aftab Ameen Poonawalla strangled his live-in partner, identified as Shraddha on 18 May after they had an argument. He then chopped her body into 35 pieces and bought a fridge to store them. Over the next 18 days, he left his house at 2 am to dispose of the pieces at various locations around the national capital.
The vicitim, aged 26, worked at the call centre in Mumbai where he met Poonawalla. The two started dating and started living together. After her family did not approve of their relationship, the duo eloped and came to Delhi. They started living in a flat in Mehrauli.
As soon as, the victim stopped responding to her family's phone calls. On November 8, her father, identified as Vikas Madaan came to Delhi to check on his daughter. When he reached the flat, it was locked. He approached the Mehrauli Police and registered a complaint.
Based on the father’s complaint, police took Poonawalla into their custody on Saturday. In the time of the investigation, the accused revealed that the two fought frequently as Shraddha wanted to marry him.
The police have lodged a case of murder and are trying to recover Shraddha's dead body.
