In a shocking incident coming in from the national capital, a 30-year-old man has been arrested for killing his grandmother under the influence of alcohol in Delhi's Prem Nagar. The accused, identified as Shahrukh, killed his grandmother on Sunday.
On Sunday, the police got a phone call regarding a murder in the Prem Nagar area. During the preliminary inquiry, the caller’s mobile phone was found switched off. It was registered in the name of Meena, a resident of Inder Enclave-2 in Kirari. Her house was also found locked, a senior official said.
When the police reached the location, they discovered the dead body of a 90-year-old Raisa lying in the room.
The elderly victim suffered an injury on the back of her head. It is suspected that the accused pushed her in an intoxicated state, as a result of which she suffered injuries and died, they said.
The police sent the dead body for autopsy to SGM Hospital. The son of the deceased woman registered an FIR, following which police began the investigation.
A case has been registered under sections 302 (murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) GS Sandhu said.
