Delhi horror: Hearing and speech impaired woman 'raped' multiple times, accused nabbed
There seems to be no end to crimes especially when it comes to women and children across the country. In an appalling incident of crime coming in from the national capital, a man allegedly raped a 30-year-old hearing and speech impaired woman in Northeast part of the city.
The accused allegedly raped the victim on numerous occasions.
The victim and the accused, identified as Rehan Tofiq, aged 34, lives in the same locality. The accused has now been taken into police custody.
The victim along with her mother and other family members approached the cops and apprised them about the alleged incident, as per a report in Indian Express.
The woman in her complain mentioned that the accused was sexually assaulting her since 22nd November. The accused also allegedly threatened the woman to tell about the incident to anyone.
"The Delhi Commission for Women has been informed about the incident and a counsellor has been sent to the station. Since the victim is hearing and speech impaired, we needed an interpreter. The woman came to the station at night and no government official was available at the time. We sought the services of a private interpreter and, with the help of the DCW counsellor, her statement was recorded,” the report quoted a police officer as saying.
The city police have registered a case under sections of rape and criminal intimidation. The victim has been sent for medical analysis.
According to police, the accused has been taken into custody on the basis of the victim’s statement and medical analysis.
The accused has been sent to judicial custody after he was taken before a court.
Further investigation into the case is in process.
