Cyber Crime: First few hours crucial, report immediately
Ajmer: In a meeting with police officers from Ajmer, Nagaur, Didwana, and Beawar, Additional Director General of Police (Recruitment and Promotion Board) and Ajmer Range Officer Sachin Mittal emphasized that cybercrime is a growing concern and timely action is essential to prevent online fraud. He advised that the first few hours after a cybercrime is committed are crucial, and if a complaint is filed on the cyber portal or by calling 1930, the looted money can be recovered.
Mittal, who was on a two-day visit to Ajmer, met with police officers from the four districts and discussed various issues related to crime and policing. He stressed that awareness is key to preventing cybercrime and commended the efforts of Bharatpur Range in reducing cybercrime cases by 25%.
Golden Hours to Solve Cyber Crime
Mittal explained that cybercrime cases are increasing, but the investigation pace is slow. He informed that the state government has established cyber police stations at district headquarters to tackle cybercrime. He emphasized that the first few hours after a cybercrime is committed are golden hours, and if a complaint is filed within this time frame, the looted money can be recovered.
Awareness Holds the Key
Mittal said that awareness among the public is essential to prevent cybercrime. He appreciated the efforts of Superintendent of Police, Devendra Kumar Vishnoi, who is running an awareness campaign among school students. Mittal emphasized that public awareness can help prevent cybercrime and reduce the number of cases.
Police Strength and Resources
Responding to a question, Mittal said that police strength is always a concern, but the government is taking steps to recruit more personnel. He informed that 5500 vacancies will be filled soon, and the process is underway. He also emphasized that the police are doing their best with the available resources.
Corruption in Police
Mittal said that corruption in the police force is a concern, but the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is working to tackle the issue. He informed that the ACB and police vigilance teams take action against corrupt officers.
Innovations in Policing
Mittal emphasized that innovations in policing are essential, but they should be done within the system. He said that individual initiatives may not be sustainable in the long run.
Review of Crimes Against Women and Children
Mittal reviewed the cases of crimes against women and children with the police officers from the four districts. He directed them to monitor these cases closely and take prompt action.
