Crime on Cam: Couple kills elderly woman, chops off her body; spine-chilling deets inside
In a gruesome incident, an elderly woman was brutally murdered by a couple in Delhi. The accused allegedly chopped off her body into several pieces.
To hide their crime, the couple dumped the body in a drain. According to reports, the couple had borrowed around Rs 1 lakh from the deceased woman named Kavita (72) and was unable to return it.
The shocking incident took place in Delhi’s Najafgarh. A CCTV footage of the incident showed the accused could be seen carrying plastic bags in which they had stuffed the body parts of the elderly woman.
The accused couple has been identified as Anil Arya and Tanu. Arya is an event management official.
Spine-chilling details
On June 30, the event management professional along with his wife allegedly killed the 72-year-old woman as she had been asking them to return their money. The elderly woman was punched and strangled.
They killed the woman when she was alone at her home. According to NDTV reports, the couple cut the body of the woman into three pieces and filled them in three bags, and threw them in a drain in Najafgarh, a senior official said.
Reportedly, the couple spent the night at the woman’s house and were cleaning the blood after chopping her body, the police said.
Before dumping the body in the drain, the couple removed jewellery from Kavita’s body.
They sold the jewllery at a popular finance company and took Rs 70,000 in return, the police said.
Police were alerted about the incident on July 3. According to reports, the daughter-in-law of the deceased woman, Megha Grover, had gone out of the house along with her husband a few days ago.
On July 3, Grover returned home and didn’t find her mother-in-law. Later, the woman approached police and register a missing complaint. On July 8, the woman told the cops that she was suspicious of her neighbours as they were also missing.
On the basis of the woman’s allegations, the police started searching for her neighbours. The cops raided multiple locations in Uttar Pradesh and nabbed the suspects from their rented accommodation with the help of tip-offs as well as technical surveillance.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the matter.
