COVID positive teen girl molested by health worker in Kerala
In a shocking incident reported from Kerala, a teenage girl, aged 14, who had tested COVID positive and was recovering at a health centre was allegedly sexually abused by a health worker, aged 26, at the medical center in Kottayam district.
As maintained by cops, the incident took place on 17th June. The victim had tested positive for coronavirus, after which she was admitted to Polytechnic Collage for medical care. On the day of the crime, Sachin, aged 26, the health worker who was on night duty, allegedly sexually harassed the girl.
The next day, the Chingavanam police, after being alerted about the crime, recorded her statement. After the girl got better, she went through counselling. The girl, in the time of the counselling session, said that Sachin spoke indecently and molested her. She also revealed that one of her relatives had also sexually abused her when she was 10 years old, as per a report by The Times of India.
In line with the victim’s statement, the cops took the accused health worker into their custody, the accused is a native of Nattakom, and a 28-year-old man from Alappuzha. The two arrestees were taken before a court and was sent to judicial custody.
In another incident of crime in the midst of the pandemic, an ambulance driver allegedly raped a 19-year-old COVID positive girl while shifting her to a medical facility in Kerala’s Aranmula area last year.
The victim, after being diagnosed with COVID-19, was admitted to a hospital. Later, it was decided to shift her to First-Line Treatment Centre (FLTC). While taking her there, the ambulance driver, Noufal, aged 29, took her to an isolated area and raped her.
