COVID-19 positive man sexually assaults another patient in hospital
In a incident reported from COVID hospital in Nuapada district in Odisha, a Covid positive man was booked for sexually assaulting another patient, while he was undergoing treatment at the same hospital after testing positive for the virus.
A case was lodged with the Nuapada Sadar Police station in connection with the incident. Accoring to reports, the victim was admitted to the district Covid Hospital on 26th April.
The accused, who was already admitted to the same hospital at the time, allegedly assaulted the woman, after which the latter raised an alarm. Hearing her screams, few other patients gathered at the crime spot.
A lady officer also visited the victim and took her statement. The woman alleged that the accused had touched her in an inappropriate manner.
"I felt his intention was not good towards me, so I shouted and called other patients nearby," the victim told police.
Talking to India Today, police officer of Nuapada Police Station Sanjukta Barla said the accused has been booked under Section 354 (assault or using criminal force to any woman) and 354 (A), 269 and 270 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after the victim lodged a complaint.
