A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan sustained injuries in an IED blast near Markanar village in the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on October 7.
"One BSF jawan was injured in an IED blast near Markanar village under Koylibeda PS limit," said Shalabh Sinha, Superintendent of Police (SP), Kanker. More details are awaited.
Naxals are particularly active in the region and frequently target BSF personnel. A high-pressure improvised explosive device (IED) blast by Naxals on March 14 in the Narayanpur district, claimed the life of an Assistant Sub-Inspector rank officer of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Narayanpur district is within 3 Km of ITBP's Sonpur camp.
