Chandrayaan 2: Pakistan minister for science celebrates as ISRO loses contact with Vikram lander

On Saturday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) lost all communications with its Vikram lander when it was just 2.1 kilometres away from the lunar surface touchdown. India was attempting a soft landing on the southernmost part of the moon but the mission was not successful.

When the whole world was congratulating India for successfully placing the orbiter into the moon’s orbit and for trying to do a soft landing on the lunar surface, Pakistan minister for science and technology Ch. Fawad Hussain was mocking ISRO and India on the ‘failure’ of the moon mission.

For those of you don’t know, India’s second moon mission Chandrayaan 2 is not a failure. The mission had three components, orbiter, lander, and a rover. ISRO has successfully placed the orbiter and it will orbit the moon for more than a year. The Vikram lander which also had a rover (Pragyaan) inside it was looking good till the last phase of landing before ISRO lost all communications. ISRO is still analysing the data and trying to figure out what went wrong.

And for Fawad Hussain to mock India and Indian scientists in the manner he did shows the level of intellectualism the state of Pakistan stands for. Pakistan started their space program years before India did in 1969, but they have not yet achieved a fraction of what ISRO has, so for Fawad Hussain to mock India is laughable and absurd.
