Call to Dismiss Teacher for Making Obscene Gestures at Student
Khurai (Madhya Pradesh): A teacher at a government-integrated primary school has been accused of making obscene gestures to a female student. The teacher has been suspended, but members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal are demanding his dismissal.
Protesters gathered at Kila Gate and marched through the main roads to Parsa Chowk, shouting slogans and demanding the teacher's dismissal. The protesters also blocked the Bina-Sagar road, causing long queues of vehicles.
According to the police, a student had complained to her parents about the teacher's behaviour, alleging that he would often make obscene gestures and come to school drunk. The parents had complained to the school management, which had informed the higher authorities.
A five-member team led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) had investigated the matter and submitted a report. The report led to the teacher's suspension.
The VHP and Bajrang Dal members have been demanding the teacher's dismissal, and have threatened to intensify their protests if their demands are not met.
The police have registered a case against the teacher under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the SC/ST Act.
