Assam: Shocking! 50-year-old man tries to rape girl's dead body

In a shocking incident has reported from Assam where a 50-year-old man attempted to rape a girl’s dead body. Reportedly, the 14-year-old girl had died a few days ago and her family members buried her body along the Simen River.

The appalling incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Silapathar police station in Assam’s Demaji district.

Reportedly, the minor girl died on the night of May 17 and was buried on the banks of the Simen River at Demgaon, indiatoday.in reported.

The man was caught while doing the heinous crime on May 18 when a group of local fishermen saw him attempting a rape girl’s dead body. Locals handed over him to the Police.

The man was identified as Akan Saikia. According to the Police, the accused said that he dug up the grave of the girl and took her body intending to have sex with it.

Police booked him under sections 306 and 377 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the POCSO Act, a police official told India Today.

According to police, Saikia was released from jail in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.

However, the accused is not suffering from any mental disorder disease. Earlier in 2018, his wife filed an FIR against him that led to his arrest. Based on his wife’s complaint, a case was registered under Section 498 (A) of the IPC. He was absconding since then and police arrested him in September 2019. Later, he was jailed by a court, Dhemaji Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarter) Pradip Konwar said.

Meanwhile, the police are doing the investigation into the matter.
