AP shocker: Couple sells 12-year-old girl to neighbour for their daughter’s treatment
In a shocking incident, a couple allegedly sold off their 12-year-old daughter to their neighbour in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district.
According to timesnownews.com reports., the couple need to raise the fund for their 16-year-old elder daughter’s medical treatment, therefore, they sold their younger daughter.
The girl was rescued by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) officials on Thursday night after locals alerted them.
According to reports, the parents of the 12-year-old girl work as a daily wager. Her sibling is suffering from respiratory issues and her parents have no money for the treatment.
Therefore, their 46-year-old neighbour, identified as Chinna Subbaiah, had evinced interest in marrying the minor girl.
Reportedly, Subbaiah had made offers to her parents several times, asking them to marry her off to him.

The couple on Wednesday sold off their 12-year-old daughter to Subbaiah for Rs 10,000. The man married the minor girl and took her to his relative’s house in Dampur village in the district’s Vidavalur mandal. In the night, his relative’s neighbour heard a girl screaming.
“When neighbours went to his house, Subbaiah admitted the whole thing as if there was nothing wrong in what he had done,” a report by The Times of India quoted an ICBS official as saying.
The neighbours then informed ICDS officials about it, following which the girl was rescued on Thursday night.
