Andhra Pradesh: Man sets car on fire after locking woman, 2 others inside
A man reportedly set a car on fire after locking a woman and two others, inside the car in broad daylight in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada.
While all three were injured in the attack, one of them suffered serious burn injuries in the incident, police said. The reason behind the crime was because of a financial dispute over business.
The incident reportedly took happenned on Monday under the jurisdiction of Patamata police station.
"Venugopal Reddy was a business partner with Gangadhar some time ago. They used to buy and sell second-hand cars. However, their business did not run well. After incurring losses, Venugopal and Gangadhar parted ways," Vijayawada deputy commissioner of police (DCP) V Harshavardhan Raju told ANI.
According to the DSP, Venugopal had been trying to talk to Gangadhar but the latter didn’t respond. Gangadhar along with is wife Nagavalli and a friend Krishna met Venugopal on Monday, said police.
As the discussions was taking place, Venugopal Reddy got out of the car on the pretext of smoking.
“At around 4.45 pm, Venugopal got down the car on the pretext of smoking a cigarette. He poured the petrol, which he brought in a whiskey bottle, on the car and set it ablaze. Venugopal Reddy ran away from the spot," the DCP said.
Police got to the crime spot after they received an alert of a burning car with people trapped inside. The police rushed the victims to a hospital.
DCP Harshavardhan Raju stated that a case has been registered against accused Venugopal Reddy.
