Ahmedabad: 19-year-old woman gang-raped, three including woman booked

In a horrific incident reported from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by two people in the presence of another woman who is the girlfriend of one of the accused. The victim was a native of Mumbai.

The monstrous episode happened on Sunday.

The victim had gone to work as hostess for a catering event and was allegedly gang-raped by the catering contractor and his companion.

The accused contractor has been identified as Sahil Shaikh and his companion as Taskeel Qureshi. Two of them have been mentioned in the case along with a woman named Tanya Danawala who has been charged with abetment to rape. Tanya is Sahil’s lover and was there at the crime spot when the incident took place on Sunday.

As maintained by police, the victim had travelled to Ahmedabad on Saturday and was accommodated in a one bedroom flat together with six others at a housing complex in Ahmedabad’s Akruti township in the Narol area.

“On Sunday, the victim along with the three accused persons consumed alcohol in the bedroom while the six others were in the hall. By 10:30 pm, they wrapped up and as they came into the hall, the victim passed out. Then the accused duo after some time took the victim to the bedroom and raped her, the accused woman Danawala had gone inside the room when the incident happened and then left,” police said.

Ahmedabad police registered a case against all the three accused on Monday.
