Hepatitis Awareness Programme

Sagar: On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, an awareness programme, lecture, and poster competition were organised at Bundelkhand Medical College. Dean Dr. Pramendra Singh Thakur said that preventing hepatitis is easier than treating it. The more people are aware of this disease, the more benefits it will have in preventing it.

Dr. Thakur explained that there are several types of hepatitis, but most people are affected by hepatitis A, B, and C. He added that liver infection can occur due to excessive consumption of alcohol, and if left untreated, it can lead to liver failure and even liver cancer.

He emphasised that symptoms like fatigue, fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, and jaundice should not be ignored, and a doctor should be consulted immediately. Everyone should get their liver checked regularly.

Nodal Officer Dr. Devpriya Shukla informed about the programme running at the medical college. He said that the treatment of hepatitis is usually expensive and many people cannot afford it for a long time.

Under the National Programme, hepatitis patients can get free check-ups and treatment. Patients can get information about this at BMC Medicine Ward No. 1.

In the poster competition, medical college students created awareness posters, which were awarded by Dean Dr. Pramendra Singh Thakur. The event was attended by former Dean and Head of Department Dr Ramesh Pandey, Superintendent Dr Rajesh Jain, Dr Jyoti Tiwari, Dr Praveen Khare, Dr Amardeep Rai, Dr Satyendra Uikey, and others.
