Happy Holi 2019: Want to try ‘Bhang’ this Holi? Here's some key dos and don'ts you should not ignore

We all love Holi, a festival of colour and love? This year Holi falls on March 21 as according to Hindu calendar, the festival is celebrated in the month of Phalguna. People across the country celebrate the festival with full of enthusiasm. For the enthusiast Indian Holi means rang aur bhang. While for many Holi means colours and tasty foods like pakoras, laddoos, kulfis and even sharbats. And for some Holi without bhang is as equal as it is without colours.

The bhang Thandai is made with milk and also contain mix old crush cannabis, almonds and nuts, sometimes saffron strands and dried rose petals to make it more special. The Bhang drink increases the celebration spirit of the festival.

Interestingly, Bhang helps release anxiety and gives a sound, peaceful sleep. However, it also has some of its side effects. Since bhang is ingested, its hallucinogenic effects take longer to come. Well, just like every another ‘sasta nasha’, bhang also has some do's and don'ts.


Here’s Some Dos And ‘DON’T For All’:

1: Don’t Consume Bhang In Unfamiliar Places:

Drinking bhang at the unknown place or party with strangers can heighten such feelings. Some people drink bhang fall asleep, and wake up without their wallet and cellphone.

2: Avoid Bhang Consumption On An Empty Stomach:

Just like alcohol or any other intoxicant, it get much higher when consumed on an empty stomach. This is also why bhang is mixed with 'thandai', as it helps dilute the effects.

3: Don't drive after having bhang:

Just like one should not drink and drive when you are intoxicated and the same rule goes for bhang.

4: A Big No-No For Heart Patients:

If you are suffering from any kind of heart problems, high BP, or nerve-related diseases, then its a big no to bhang for you. The asthmatic patient should also never consume bhang.

5: Don't think of mixing bhang with alcohol:

People often like to experiment while drinking, but its a big no when it is about mixing alcohol with bhang as it can have fatal results. Even if you had and you are running around in direct sunlight, the results could be worst as it will totally mess up your head.

6: No painkillers for those post-bhang headaches:

If you are having headache post consuming bhang, do not take painkillers as it may lead to acidity which further aggravates nausea. Better taking a bath with cold water helps to reduce the effect or wash your head with cold water.
