Does fart has any connection with COVID-19? Know what this Australian researcher claims
Coronavirus has engulfed the world with its deadly effects and killed over one lakh of people worldwide. Quotidian, new researches are revealing the causes and symptoms of coronavirus among humans. Scientists and doctors are grappling with the virus and it has become quite challenging for them to invent the vaccine as soon as possible. However, people have adopted some precautionary measures to protect themselves from the contagious virus.
Now, the latest study has revealed another reason which could spread the virus or it could be another carrier of the virus--your fart.
Yes, you read right!
It sounds quite bizarre but an Australian doctor has claimed that fart could be the possible reason for virus spread.
So, if you are thinking that fart is just a smell then all your assumption will prove wrong after you read the claims of the Australian doctor.
As of now, due to COVID-19 over 2 million people have contracted the virus worldwide while the death toll climbed over 1 million.
In a bid to protect yourself from the infection then you should keep your eyes and ears open to know what researchers are claiming about the pandemic.
Know what Australian Researcher claimed:
On Friday, in an episode of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Coronacast podcast, producer and host Dr. Norman Swam alarmed people about the virus and said that particles of feces set adrift within a fart and the spread of COVID-19, nypost.com reports said.
“No bare-bottom farting,” Swan advised about posterior pandemic panic, in a measured, mildly amused tone.
However, he told that luckily we cover our farts all the time by wearing masks in the form of pants, shorts, dresses, underwear, and other garments.
Swam further added that “I think that what we should do in terms of social distancing and being safe is that … you don’t fart close to other people, and that you don’t fart with your bottom bare.”
Albeit, farting without wearing clothes could lead to the spread of the nasty infection.
He urged people that do not try to fart close to each other.
Meanwhile, Australian emergency physician Dr. Andy Tagg also jumped into the claim and asked a question via Twitter.
He wrote, “So farts CAN have the power to spray talc long distances. And, in terms of size, a particle of talcum powder is 5 times bigger than a 5-micron aerosol droplet.”

He also supported the claim of the doctor and said that he also conducted the research on COVID-19 positive patients and found out that 55 percent of the victims had the virus on their feces.
In the past, researchers also warned that the virus could be transmitted through the feces and even considering that most carriers (both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients present gastro-intestinal problems) and residue of the viral strain was observed in some of the patients' fecal residue as well.
However, China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated that pants can help in stopping the virus from getting transmitted through farts.
