Nagar village streets are deserted due to the outbreak; Waterlogging in the village has led to a massive breeding of mosquitoes

Tonk (Rajasthan): The Nagar village in Tonk district is grappling with a severe outbreak of dengue and fever, with almost every household affected. The village streets are deserted, and the residents are living in fear. The situation is dire, with patients dying every day, and the health department seems to be in a deep slumber.

The village residents complain that the health department has failed to take concrete steps to control the outbreak, despite the villagers' repeated pleas. The villagers are forced to take their loved ones to hospitals in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Malpura for treatment, which is a daunting task.

The village is plagued by waterlogging, which has led to a massive breeding of mosquitoes, further exacerbating the situation. The villagers have been demanding an ambulance service to facilitate the transportation of patients to hospitals, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

In 2023, the village witnessed more than half a dozen deaths due to dengue and fever. The villagers are still haunted by the memories of the past, and the current situation has only added to their misery.

The health department claims to have taken some measures to control the outbreak, including regular surveys, fogging, and spraying of insecticides. However, the villagers are sceptical about the efficacy of these measures, given the gravity of the situation.

Dr. Vedant Singh Tomar, the Chief Medical Officer of PHC Nagar, said, "Our teams are conducting regular surveys, and we have also sprayed insecticides in the affected areas. We are also keeping a tab on the patients who have been hospitalized and are providing them with necessary medical care."

The villagers, however, are not convinced by the health department's claims, and they demand more concrete action to control the outbreak.
