Cycle aficionado? Pedal on men, it won't hurt!
Men, many of you love cycling but do not indulge in this activity for the fear of it adversely impacting your sexual health and urinary function?
What's the good news?
A new study published in the Journal of Urology found that cycling will improve your overall health and even enhance your libido! The study was carried out on three groups of athletes-- 2,774 cyclists, 539 swimmers, and 789 runners, questioning them on urinary tract infections (UTIs), urethral strictures, genital numbness, and saddle sores.
New Finding
The outcome of the study was contrary to the findings of the previous studies which said that cycling might harm men's sexual health. The new findings indicate that cycling will improve the cardiovascular benefits, control weight, reduce depression, stress and anxiety.
Comparative study
According to Benjamin Breyer, Professor at the University of California in San Francisco, the results are hugely encouraging. “We believe the results will be encouraging for cyclists. Cycling provides tremendous cardiovascular benefits and is low impact on joints. We believe the health benefits enjoyed by cyclists who ride safely will far out weigh health risks.”
He also noted that this was the largest comparative study to date, exploring the associations of cycling, bike and road characteristics with sexual and urinary function.
