Control of Dengue and Malaria through ODK App

Chittorgarh: During the rainy season, people can fall ill due to dengue and malaria caused by mosquito bites. To prevent this, the Medical and Health Department is now taking the help of the ODK app to control mosquito breeding sites.

The ODK app has three parts: ODK app Vector Borne Disease, ODK app Sudhaar, and ODK app Marudhara. Through the ODK app Vector Borne Disease, field staff upload photos of water sources with geo-tagging locations. This helps the Urban Development Department and Panchayati Raj Department to identify the situation and take necessary actions such as spraying medicines to prevent mosquito breeding.

The ODK app Sudhaar will address issues such as garbage on roads, unclean drains, water accumulation in drains, potholes on roads, and stagnant water in empty plots.

The Urban Development Department will resolve complaints related to urban areas, while the Panchayati Raj Department will handle rural areas. Before and after photos of the resolved complaints will be uploaded on the app with geo-tagging, ensuring transparency.

Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBC) will control mosquito breeding inside homes through the ODK app.

Reports of anti-larval and source reduction activities will be uploaded on the app with geo-tagging. Monitoring will be done at the state and district levels. Based on the analysis of activities conducted by DBC, high-risk areas will be identified, and teams will be sent to those areas to conduct anti-mosquito activities.

Digital Control
"The department is making efforts to control dengue and malaria through digital means using the ODK app. Good results are expected from this initiative,|" said Dr. Tarachand Gupta, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Chittorgarh.
