Heavy rainfall continues in Jaipur

Jaipur: Heavy rainfall continued to lash out Jaipur on Monday, disrupting normal life as schools remain closed. The rainfall has been ongoing in Jaipur and its surrounding area since Sunday, leading to waterlogging on Ajmer Road and Sikar Road.

Widespread Water Accumulation

Water has also accumulated on several roads in Lal Kothi, C-Scheme, Civil Lines, 22 Godam Industrial Area, Mahesh Nagar, and JLN Marg. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a medium to heavy rainfall warning for several regions of Rajasthan.

IMD Red Warning Issued

On Sunday, IMD issued a red warning in Sawai Madhopur, Karoli, and Bharatpur. Due to heavy rainfall, authorities in Rajasthan announced that all government and non-government schools in Jaipur city and Jaipur rural areas, from classes 1 to 12, will be closed on Monday.

School Closure Order

In an order, the Office of the Chief District Education Officer stated, "Given the heavy rainfall in Jaipur city and Jaipur rural areas, as per the instructions of the District Collector of Jaipur, all government and non-government schools in Jaipur city and Jaipur rural, from classes 1 to 12, will remain closed on August 12, 2024. All school principals are requested to ensure compliance with this order."

Congress Postpones 'Tiranga Yatra'

Due to heavy rain, the state unit of the Congress had also postponed the 'Tiranga Yatra' that was scheduled to be organised on Sunday. Rajasthan Congress said that the waterlogging leading to traffic jams in the city has posed problems for workers in reaching for the 'Tiranga Yatra,' which led them to postpone the event.

IMD Issues Further Rainfall Warnings

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued heavy rainfall warnings for several regions in Rajasthan, as the state braces for another spell of intense monsoon showers. A red alert has been issued in Sawai Madhopur, Karoli, and Bharatpur.

Predictions of More Disruptions

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted, along with thunderstorms at isolated places in these areas. As per the IMD, waterlogging is also expected in the areas which could affect the daily lives of the people.
