Record-breaking rainfall

Sheopur: In a remarkable turn of events, the Sheopur district has witnessed a record-breaking rainfall of over 1300 mm, a feat achieved only for the second time in the last 25 years. This exceptional rainfall has brought respite to the region, which was reeling under the effects of drought just last year.

According to official records, the average rainfall in the district from June 1 to September 13 stands at 1305 mm, a staggering 58% increase from the average rainfall of 822 mm. The last time the district witnessed such high levels of rainfall was in 2021 when it received 1495 mm of rainfall.

The increased rainfall has brought significant relief to the region, with the water level in the Parvati River receding below the danger mark. However, the Sheopur-Kota road remains closed due to the continuous flow of water on the Khatali bridge, measuring 10 feet deep.

The district has also witnessed widespread damage to homes and buildings, with over 100 houses and structures affected in the recent spell of heavy rainfall.
