Youth flock to Ujjain, other Jyotirlingas during Shravan weekends
Jaipur: As the Shravan month is in full swing, the enthusiasm of Shiv devotees is palpable. During this period, devotees are flocking to Shiv temples, and the queues are unending from morning to evening. Among them, the youth are leading the charge, with a significant number of young men and women visiting Ujjain and other Jyotirlingas on weekends.
According to temple management, the number of youth in the 17-35 age group is higher than those in the 40-60 age group. Jangleshwar Mahadev Temple, Omkareshwar Mahadev Temple, and other temple trusts have reported that around 500-600 youth from Jaipur visit their temples every week. These young devotees, including college students, IT professionals, and government employees, are undertaking trips to Ujjain, Pushkar, and other nearby destinations.
Ujjain a Priority for Youth
Due to its proximity to Jaipur, Ujjain is the top priority for young devotees. Apart from Ujjain, they are also visiting Omkareshwar, Somnath, Nageshwar, and Rameshwaram. The youth are booking trains and hotels in advance, with some even opting for package deals that include transportation, accommodation, and other expenses.
Youth Share Their Experience
Rakshanda Kumawat and Simran, residents of New Sanganer Road, shared their experience, saying, "We felt a sense of peace and tranquility after visiting the Shiv temple. We also took some vows and felt a sense of spirituality." Aishwarya and Tanisha, residents of Malviya Nagar, said, "We felt a sense of solace after visiting the Mahakal temple. Despite the long queues, we felt a sense of devotion and spirituality. The temple decorations were also impressive."
Tour Operators Cash in on the Trend
Private tour operators are also cashing in on the trend, offering customized packages to youth. Subhash Mahrawal, manager of a private tour company, said, "We are receiving a high number of bookings from IT companies and colleges. Our packages include transportation, accommodation, and other expenses, making it convenient for the youth to plan their trips."
