Govardhan Puja 2021: Know the exact shubh muhurat to worship Lord Krishna
Govardhan Puja is celebrated a day after Diwali and it is also known as Annakut Puja. This year, Govardhan Puja will be observed on November 5. On this day, devotees worship Lord Krishna.
As per Hindu beliefs, the festival is celebrated to mark Lord Krishna’s victory over Lord Indra.
Govardhan Significance:
The festival is celebrated because Lord Krishna saved the Mathura’s residents from Lord Indra by lifting ‘Govardhan parwat or mountain’ on his finger.
To celebrate the festival, people make miniature mountains from clay and cow-dung and worship them. Many people also make Lord Krishna from cow-dung and worship God by following some rituals.
Devotees also worship Lord Krishna by offering food made of cereals like wheat, rice, curry made of gram flour, and other leafy vegetables.
