Festive Frenzy in August: Nag Panchami, Raksha Bandhan, and Janmashtami to be Celebrated

Baran: The month of August is set to witness a series of festivals, with Nag Panchami, Raksha Bandhan, and Janmashtami being celebrated.

The month, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is considered special for worship and rituals. The festive season will begin on August 1 with the Pradosh Vrat, followed by the Hariyali Teej festival. Nag Panchami, which falls on August 9, will see devotees worshiping Lord Shiva. The festival of Raksha Bandhan, symbolizing the eternal bond between brothers and sisters, will be celebrated on August 19. Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, will be observed on August 26.


The Jain festival of Paryushan Parv, which begins on August 31, will see devotees seeking forgiveness for their sins and indulging in self-reflection.

Paryushan Parv Begins

According to the Hindu calendar, Paryushan Parv is a 10-day festival that begins on the fifth day of the bright half of the Bhadrapada month. This year, the festival will commence on August 31 and conclude on September 8. During this period, Jain devotees will focus on self-reflection, meditation, and seeking forgiveness for their past mistakes.

Nag Panchami Celebrations

Nag Panchami, which falls on August 9, will see devotees worshiping Lord Shiva. The auspicious time for worship is between 5:53 am and 8:30 am.

Janmashtami Celebrations

Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, will be celebrated on August 26. The festival will be followed by Kala Ashtami on August 27, Dahi Handi on August 27, and Rohini Vrat on August 27.

Raksha Bandhan Celebrations

Raksha Bandhan, symbolising the eternal bond between brothers and sisters, will be celebrated on August 19. The auspicious time for worship is after 9:01 am.

Other Festivals in August

August 1 will see the Pradosh Vrat, while August 2 will mark the Sawan Shivratri. The Hariyali Amavasya and third Sawan Somwar will be observed on August 4 and 5, respectively. The Tritiya Mangala Gauri Vrat will be celebrated on August 6, followed by the Hariyali Teej festival on August 7. The Vinaayak Chaturthi and Nag Panchami will be observed on August 8 and 9, respectively.
