Chaitra Navratri 2019: When is Ram Navami in India? here’s the exact date
The nine-day long Hindu festival, Chaitra Navratri which is celebrated as Ram Navami, will conclude soon. However, there is a dilemma in the mind of devotees that when is Ram Navami.
As per Hindu belief, Chaitra Navratri celebrated as the birthday of Lord Rama, believed to be the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. Lord Rama was born on a ninth day in Shukla Paksha which is fall in the month of Chaitra.
This year, the Ram Navami will be celebrated on 14th April 2019.
Therefore, people can observe the fast for Ram Navami on 13th April i.e. on Ashtami or on the day of Mahagauri.
The celebrations of Chaitra Ram Navmi can be observed in many regions in North India with full zeal and dedication. Significantly, Ram Navami prime importance is in Ayodhya, which the birthplace of Lord Rama.
To celebrate Ram Navami, special rath yatra is organised. During the procession, people can be seen in the character of Lord Rama, Laxman, Sita and Hanuman. Also, devotees gathered on roads to witness the jhankis or the procession to praise the Lords.
Not only in Ayodhya but Ram Navami has great importance in Sitamarhi (Bihar), believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita.
Also, on Ram Navami and mahagauri, devotees hold the special ‘kanjak’ or kanya puja by inviting at least nine girls to their home and offer them food and gifts.
However, Chaitra Navaratri is dedicated to the nine avatars of Goddess Durga.
