New Rs 500 and 200 Notes: RBI makes big announcment! Soon to issue new Rs 200 and 500 notes
After demonetization, the Reserve Bank of India issued new notes of 200 and 500 rupees. Now again the RBI has made an important announcement, regarding changes in the banknotes. According to reports, RBI is all set to issue new currency notes of Rs 200 and Rs 500 soon.
In a notification released on April 23, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will soon issue new Rs 500 currency banknotes. According to RBI notifications, the new notes are being launched under the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series. That is, these new notes will also have pictures of Mahatma Gandhi. The new Rs 200 and 500 will also witness some major changes and updates.
In a major update, the new Rs 500 notes will come with the signature of RBI governor Shaktikanta Das. Notably, till now the notes of 500 rupees have been signed by former RBI governor Urjit Patel.

"The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ₹ 500 denomination Banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series bearing the signature of Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor. The design of these notes is similar in all respects to ₹ 500 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series. All banknotes in the denomination of ₹ 500 issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender," the notification read.
In another notification, the Central bank RBI had said that it will also issue new Rs 200 currency banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) series bearing the signature of Shaktikanta Das. The bank has said that the design of these notes is similar in all respects to Rs 200 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series.
Notably, the RBI has clarified that even after the new notes of Rs 200 and Rs 500 are introduced, the old notes running in the system will also continue.
According to ZeeBusinees reports, the Rs 500 notes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series are stone grey in colour. The size of the note is 66mm x 150mm.

On the front -
1 - See-through the register in the denominational numeral.
2 - Latent image of the denominational numeral.
3 - Denominational numeral in Devnagari.
4 - Orientation and relative position of Mahatma Gandhi portrait changed.
5 - Windowed security thread changes colour from green to blue when the note is tilted.
6 - Guarantee clause, governor's signature with promise clause and RBI emblem shifted towards right.
7 - Portrait and electrotype watermark.
8 - Number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left the side and bottom right side.
9 - Denomination in numerals with rupee symbol in colour changing ink (green to blue) on the bottom right.
10 Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right.
For visually impaired:
Intaglio of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, bleed lines and identification mark continue.
11 - Circle with Rs 500 in raised print on the right.
12 - 5 bleed lines on left and right in raised print.
On the back -
1 - Year of printing of the note on left.
2 - Swachh Bharat logo with the slogan
3 - Language panel towards the centre.
