PNB Fraud: After cars, 60 boxes full of imported watches seized from Nirav Modi's residence
On Friday, the central probe agency intensified the probe and froze shares and bank deposit worth Rs 44 crore that belonged to billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi's company. Besides, the share, the agency has also entered Modi's 176 steel almirahs and 60 plastic containers having imported watches.
The seizure has come a day after ED froze shares and luxury cars worth over Rs 100 crore on Thursday. This crackdown by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and freezing a share of 44 crores is a probe to money laundering in the alleged Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud.
He has been asked to join investigation and appear before the CBI and ED in Mumbai on February 26. Besides, Modi's uncle and Gitanjali Gems promoter Mehul Choksi and others are also under the scanner of ED. Following a complaint by the PNB, that they cheated them of Rs 11,400 crore.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED have registered two FIRs each to probe the case.
